Privacy Policy
Effective Date: June 6, 2026
Escape Hatch is operated by Testcode, Inc. ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the Escape Hatch game - the website at escapehatch.gg, the desktop applications for Windows and macOS, and the related online services (together, the "Service").
Escape Hatch is a multiplayer game, and we aim to collect only what we need to run it safely. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Overview
When you use Escape Hatch you create an account, play sessions with other people, talk to them over voice chat, and can build and publish your own rooms. To keep the community safe, rooms and uploads that you share with other players are moderated automatically and by our team. We collect the limited information described below to provide and secure the Service.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account Information. When you create an account we store your username, your email address, and a hash of your password - never the password itself. Your username is shown to the other participants in a session and on any rooms you publish.
2.2 Voice Chat and Player Content. During a session your microphone is transmitted to the other participants in that session in real time. Wherever the network allows, that audio travels directly between players and never reaches our servers; when a direct connection is impossible it is relayed, but it stays encrypted end to end and we do not record it. Escape Hatch never accesses your camera. Rooms you save or publish, and the images, sounds and 3D models you upload, are stored on our servers so they can be loaded by the players you share them with.
2.3 Technical Data. We process basic technical information such as IP address and timestamps to connect players to each other and to keep the Service reliable and secure, including rate limiting and abuse prevention.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Account information is used to sign you in, show your username in the show, and contact you about the Service.
- Live content is transmitted to other participants and screened for safety in real time.
- Rooms and uploads you publish are used to moderate and monitor the Service, enforce bans, handle reports, and review appeals.
- Technical data is used to operate the Service and prevent abuse.
4. Service Providers
We share information with service providers who process it on our behalf to operate the Service:
| Category | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Real-time media infrastructure | Relaying voice chat between players when a direct connection is not possible |
| Content-moderation providers | Automated screening of video and audio for nudity, explicit content, and hate speech |
| Cloud database and hosting providers | Storing account, username, and moderation records |
| Stripe | Processing payments for the desktop game. Stripe receives your payment details directly; we receive only the fact of a completed purchase and your billing email. |
These providers are permitted to use the information only to perform services for us, subject to their own privacy policies. We do not sell your personal information.
5. Data Storage and Security
- Account, username, and moderation records are stored on secure cloud databases.
- Data in transit between your device and our servers is protected by TLS (HTTPS).
- We use reasonable, industry-standard measures to protect your information.
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access will never occur.
6. Your Choices and Account Deletion
To delete your account, contact us at [email protected] from the email address on the account. Deleting your account removes your profile information, including your name, email address, and username. We may retain limited safety and moderation records associated with a non-identifying account identifier to enforce bans and prevent abuse.
7. Data Retention
- Account information is retained until you delete your account.
- Rooms and uploads are retained while your account exists, and afterwards only as needed to operate the Service, enforce bans, handle reports and appeals, and prevent abuse.
- Technical data used for abuse prevention is retained for as long as necessary.
8. Data Deletion
To delete your account or request deletion of your data, contact us at [email protected]. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
9. Children's Privacy
Escape Hatch is not directed to children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe that a child under 16 has used the App, please contact us at [email protected] and we will promptly delete any associated data.
10. California Privacy Rights

Escape Hatch collects only the limited personal information described in this policy. To the extent applicable:

We process the limited personal data we hold on the legal basis of legitimate interest (providing and securing the Service) and, where applicable, performance of a contract (these Terms of Service).
12. What We Do Not Do
For clarity, Escape Hatch does not:
- Display advertisements or use advertising SDKs
- Sell, rent, or share your data with data brokers or marketing companies
- Collect more personal information than we need to run and secure the Service
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page and, where practicable, notify you through the App. Your continued use of Escape Hatch after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
